How did you start photography, what place does it take in your life today?

I started shooting with my smartphone like everyone else. It was when I bought my first SLR camera that I really got interested in photography. I took pictures of everything around me and that for a year every day. Currently, photography is a large part of my life. I am in photography school, moreover, I prepare many personal works, always in connection with photography.

What are your sources of inspiration?

A lot of things and people inspire me. For people, if I had to pick three, it would be Gordon Parks for the documentary aspect. Bruce Gilden, for his use of the flash and his daring approach to people in the street. Willem Veerbeck, who made me appreciate film photography. For the rest, my inspirations come from my relatives, music, cinema, music videos.

Your practice focuses on fashion and portrait photography. Why this choice?

I often notice seemingly trivial details. This is what I want to highlight in my portraits, whoever I'm taking pictures of. We all have this thing that sets us apart. Regarding fashion, it's because we find everything that is atypical. I can allow myself to choose framing, fashion design, offbeat and atypical models.

Can you tell us more about the story behind the series you created with our film?

The series is simple in appearance but the conditions of its making were very complicated. For the little story, it's a bit candid, but it's about two childhood buddies, a photographer, and the other learning to accept himself in front of the lens.

What do you like about film photography?

In analogue photography, I consider that each shot is unique and has its own story. This is why I appreciate my photos more, even if there are some mistakes.

What advice would you give to those who are new to film photography?

Get started! You think it's complicated, but you learn by practicing.
